The Amour, radiates romance and elegance through its French modern design concept. Located in the affluent suburb of Salter Point, The Amour is a Parisian residence with a modern twist. We spoke to WB Innovation and New Product Designer, Joseph Calasara about his inspiration. “The Amour was inspired by a modern Parisian apartment,” he said. “French design is synonymous with elegance and style and this home is romantic, effortless and designed for an affluent lifestyle.”

A standout from the streetscape, the home flaunts a monochromatic façade, featuring simple charcoal lines to contrast, steel awnings and Juliet balconies that catch the eye, setting the Parisian scene from the first moment, giving you the ambience of strolling along the streets in the famous, city of love.

Entering through the double front door, the classic black and white palette is complemented by pastel colours in the artwork and accessories, adding softness to the otherwise monochromatic scheme. “The Amour celebrates grandeur by welcoming you to the expansive spaces from the central double-storey void to the open-plan living area that extends to the alfresco,” Joseph said.

“As you step down into the living area, you can’t help but marvel at the fully built-in open fireplace, perfect for entertaining on cold winter nights. The living and dining areas extend to the outdoor verandah in front of the courtyard and swimming pool.”

With a family lifestyle in mind, Joseph wanted to create a home with sufficient space and privacy. Each bedroom is tucked away from the home’s centre, separating downtime from the everyday hustle and bustle.

The Amour was designed to cater to families,” he said. “The upper floor is dedicated to the master suite, with the rest of the bedrooms downstairs. There is an expansive open-plan living space in the centre of the home that extends to the decadent alfresco, making this a perfect house for families who love to entertain.”

And like all sophisticated Parisians, The Amour is a consummate entertainer with its expansive kitchen located in the heart of the home. With a dedicated scullery that wraps around to the laundry, the kitchen cabinetry oozes opulence. Featuring panelled charcoal cabinetry that matches the living area and the master suite, touches of brass are given special attention in the cabinetry handles and in the inlay to the marble flooring against the Chevron timber floors. It is pure indulgence.

“Fitted with fully integrated appliances and designed with entertaining in mind, this kitchen is a chef’s dream. It has a hidden scullery, plenty of storage and outdoor space to enjoy your morning coffee.”

Making your way upstairs, the entire upper floor is dedicated to the master suite, making this the perfect getaway for some well-deserved relaxation after a long day. “The upper floor features a double door entry leading to the master suite. To add to the luxury, this room has a full height panelled wall bed head similar to the cabinetry inside the adjacent open layout ensuite. A bathroom and robe combined, this ensuite emits an opulent aura, with a central freestanding bath, a dedicated jewellery cabinet and plenty of robe spaces and luxurious vanity.”

And perhaps Joseph’s favourite feature of the home, the daybed, is located at the back of the house overlooking the pool. “A dedicated sitting and recreation area is located away from the main living zone, featuring a full glaze steel daybed projecting over the swimming pool. This is the perfect space to wind down with a book and a cup of tea.”

Smart technology has been used throughout the home, which only adds to its magnificence. “The home is fitted with the latest technology in security and entertaining. Even the master ensuite features smart technology, from the smart toilet and sensor lighting to the automatic skylights over the centre of the room.”
