From the beginning, our clients were intentional. It wasn’t just about building a beautiful home, it was about designing a space that would support their routines, reflect their values and feel unmistakably their own.
“The design of our home has influenced our routines… the home is very functional for our lifestyle.”
What started as an idea for a single storey home, their brief evolved once they realised their block’s potential to take in city views. Working closely with our team, they created a custom two-storey layout that prioritised space on the ground floor for open-plan living, entertaining, and privacy, with the master suite thoughtfully tucked away at the rear.
Every inch of the home reflects what they value. The scullery was a non-negotiable. So was the walk-in pantry. Food is a big part of their lives and their design made space for it. Space to cook traditional meals, to store spices, to prepare with intention and without clutter.
“The open living is the place where our friends and family usually get together… we have guests and friends coming home… and this is the area we were using more.”
Their shared love of minimalism influenced every detail, from the soft, neutral palette to the use of warm lighting and textured finishes. But what really made their selections process memorable was the simplicity of it. With everything under one roof at Home Collective, they moved through their selections with confidence, supported by experts who helped bring their ideas to life.
As first-time builders, clear communication and guidance made all the difference. From early planning through to handover, they felt supported every step of the way. Living next door throughout the build gave them a unique perspective as they watched their new home take shape daily and appreciating the level of detail and craftsmanship behind it all.
“We didn’t have any prior experience in building a custom home before… but we always felt that we were well taken care of.”
When asked what advice they’d share with anyone thinking about building, they didn’t hesitate: “Firstly, I think, from our experience, the first and foremost important thing is, whom do you build with is quite important.”
Finding the right builder set the tone for everything that followed, from the collaborative design process to the quality of the finished home. They also encourage others to take their time in the early stages: to be clear on what matters, avoid rushing decisions, and focus on creating a home that feels right for them.
When the build was complete and they stepped inside for the first time, there was a real sense of joy and pride.
“It was actually a mix of excitement and pride and a ‘dream come true’ moment. Actually, that moment made the entire journey worth it.”
Looking back, they credit the enjoyment of their experience to careful planning and most importantly, choosing the right builder for them. Every corner of their home was designed with care, reflecting the way they live and the people they love to spend time with. And for us, there’s no greater privilege than helping bring that to life.
