The Brookton: Where West Australian Heritage Meets Modern Living

Nestled in the heart of Lake Treeby Estate, facing a tranquil public open space, The Brookton represents a bold new chapter in Webb & Brown-Neaves’ legacy of exceptional home design. This stunning double-storey display home is more than just a showcase of beautiful design—it’s a love letter to Western Australia’s rich rural heritage and natural beauty.

A Design Born from WA’s Landscape

“The design explores the West Australian vernacular architecture,” explains Joseph Calasara, WB Designer, and the creative mind behind The Brookton. “It showcases our love for outdoors, farm stays, camping and explorations of the bushlands and exquisite beauty of WA’s rural paradise.” From the moment you approach the home, you’re greeted by a façade that captures the essence of WA’s vibrant landscape. The striking combination of Austral Sculptured Sands Opaque Calcite feature brickwork, with its textural depth and smeared white grout, merges seamlessly with innovative vertical weatherboard cladding in Wattyl Tuz Lake. The curved walls create a modern interpretation of classic rural cottages, while the lightweight façade picture frame adds architectural sophistication.

The colour palette tells its own story—ochre, rust, olive green, and warm browns echo the hues of the Australian bushland, creating an immediate sense of harmony and connection with the surrounding environment.

Flexible Living for Modern Families

The Brookton’s brilliance lies in its adaptability. With four bedrooms and three bathrooms thoughtfully arranged across two levels, this home anticipates the changing needs of contemporary families. “The Brookton is designed for multigenerational setup with flexible spaces to accommodate modern and laidback living,” says Calasara. The ground floor features a self-contained area that can be easily isolated from the main house, complete with a dedicated entrance and outdoor courtyard. Whether you’re hosting long-stay parents, welcoming overseas visitors, accommodating a returning family member, or generating additional income through accommodation, this flexible wing adapts to your lifestyle.

Craftsmanship That Commands Attention

As you step inside, a spacious entry with a statement staircase invites exploration. The home’s simple floor plan belies its sophisticated space planning—every square metre has been thoughtfully considered. The heart of the home is an expansive rear living zone, perfect for entertaining. This area seamlessly extends to outdoor spaces, both sheltered and open, offering what Calasara describes as “an authentic camping experience.” Imagine gathering the family around a fire in the outdoor courtyard under winter stars, building memories and sharing stories in true West Australian style.

Taking centre stage is a fully decked-out kitchen with integrated appliances, designed to complement modern lifestyles. Deep rust-coloured, handmade-style tiles add warmth and texture, while a full wall of wine storage, a control station for tech-savvy households, and a terracotta-cladded island bench make this kitchen truly exceptional.

Upper Level Sanctuary

The upper level surrounds a central void, allowing spaces to communicate with each other while maintaining privacy. The master bedroom, positioned at the front of the house, features a dedicated ensuite and faces the public open space. A retreat with a study nook opens to a balcony, perfect for enjoying views of the front garden.

“The design provides double masters for future proofing,” notes Calasara, demonstrating the forward-thinking approach embedded in every aspect of The Brookton. Two additional bedrooms at the rear of the upper floor offer spacious storage solutions.

Innovation Meets Sustainability

The Brookton demonstrates sustainable building practices through thoughtful material selection designed for enduring performance. Robust brickwork and durable fibre cement cladding form the foundation of the home’s exterior, chosen for their proven longevity and minimal maintenance requirements that reduce lifecycle impacts. The Colorbond Dover White roof offers superior thermal efficiency and weather resistance, while Pearl White doors and windows provide lasting quality and performance. Complementing these resilient materials, the surrounding landscape features waterwise native plantings carefully selected to thrive in local conditions with minimal irrigation.

Experience The Brookton Difference

The Brookton represents the evolution of residential design, thoughtfully responding to how modern families truly live. “As we continue to explore and forecast the future of residential design, The Brookton provides options to accommodate different living conditions,” says Calasara. This is more than a display home—it’s a wonderfully local design fitted for the WA lifestyle. Its’ laidback luxury inspired by the beauty of WA’s rural paradise. It’s an innovative approach to the classic cottage house that celebrates what it means to call Western Australia home.
