Grace & Shannon’s Multigenerational Home

Grace and Shannon began their home building journey with Webb & Brown-Neaves knowing they needed a home suited to their multigenerational lifestyle. With Shannon’s parents residing overseas and visiting often, accommodating extended family was a key consideration from the very start of the design process.

Their previous home had never quite worked for them, and that experience only reinforced how much they wanted a home designed around the way they actually live. Building with WB allowed them to create exactly that, a home that brings their family together. The experience proved so rewarding, from the finished product to the customer service they received throughout, that Grace and Shannon are now building a second home with WB, this time designed just for the two of them. Having already brought one dream home to life, they’re excited to see this next chapter come together.

A Home for family

For Shannon and Grace, a top priority was designing a home that could serve as a gathering place for the family whenever they were in Perth. “When we were planning to build the house, it was the purpose of when everyone gathers in Perth, we all have a place to stay,” says Shannon. The living room needed to be an open space that allowed for connection and time for a “chit chat”, as Grace likes to describe it.

Spaces with Purpose

With relatives constantly flying in and out, having enough room for guests to stay comfortably, without anyone getting in each other’s way, makes the house genuinely welcoming. The couple needed room to rest and restore for the next day, and emphasised the need for their spaces to feel cozy yet minimalistic, so they can unwind and recharge. “When people walk in we want the space to feel spacious and minimalistic”, says Shannon.

The Homes Rhythm

Grace has enjoyed decorating her space ready to host guests, while Shannon has added a fun activity space in the backyard. “If we have kids coming they can play around in the backyard”, says Shannon. Watch the episode to find out more!
