The prestart stage of the building journey starts prior to construction, where WB’s team of experts guide our clients through the finishing selections of their home.

We spoke to WB Customer Experience Manager Emma Veen, who explains what to expect throughout the prestart stage.

“Prestart is an exciting part of the building journey where we help our clients make all of their home selections,” Emma said. “We assist them with internal and external colour selections, choosing every element of their home inclusive of tapware, light fittings and the placement of their power-points.”

Prestart begins, as soon as the preliminary works contract is signed. At the same time, the client’s Building & Design Consultant will introduce them to their Prestart Consultant.

“This meeting is really important because it provides our clients the opportunity to explain in detail to their Prestart Consultant the inspiration behind their home and what their vision is,” she said. “It is very important that the client and the Prestart Consultant are working together to meet the same vision at the end.”

With many decisions to be made for the home, the prestart meeting itself can be a big day, but our team do everything they can to prepare clients for all decisions that need to be made during this time.

“During the prestart meeting itself, the client will be guided through tailoring their lighting plan and cabinetry layouts to suit their lifestyle, as well as selecting their internal and external colours.”

According to Emma, the prestart journey is all about the client. “It’s tailoring the design to suit the client’s needs.”

“At WB, we pride ourselves on not only providing our clients with the best customer service during their journey, but also the best products. We work with our suppliers to obtain the best pricing on the best products that we know our clients will love.”

Emma’s top tips for clients in the prestart stage:

1. Be prepared before prestart. Having a thorough understanding of the vision you have for your home really helps your Prestart Consultant bring that vision to life. There is great access these days to tools such as Instagram and Pinterest and setting these up really helps achieve that vision that you’re after.

2. Understand your budget. While we pride ourselves on having a really great specification, which some clients are happy to select from within, some clients do want to step outside of that. We support that, but it is important to understand and to share with your Prestart Consultant where you’re at in terms of what it is you’re able to and willing to spend during prestart.
