On Saturday 2nd November 2019, Webb & Brown-Neaves was proud to partner with major retailer, West Elm to host Christmas Elegance at The Toorak.
Hosted by West Elm’s National Visual Merchandiser, Rhys Duggan, the event was the perfect opportunity for our clients to source inspiration for their own homes this Christmas, learning the latest interior design trends and seasonal products on offer with timing of the festive season only a few weeks away.
Styled with natural materials, botanicals, candlelight and metallics, The Toorak’s Christmas makeover was completed with a beautifully decorated Christmas Tree topped with West Elm’s latest Fairtrade decorations. The Toorak dazzled clients with a holiday feel throughout the home as they dined on Veuve Clicquot and feasted on a Tiffany Keal grazing table – the truffle infused cheese to die for!
“One of the looks we are seeing for Christmas styling in 2019, is an elevated, natural look that combines organic materials such as florals, timber, marble, faux furs with metallic pops,” Rhys said.
Rhys presented two distinct Christmas trends to our guests for this year:
Natural Inspired Christmas: Natural materials with metallic pops, decorating with plants, botanicals, and candlelight, perfect for relaxed Australian homes and summer entertaining – making it feel special without being artificial.
Decorator Christmas: All the glam and sparkle of Christmas, using gold and silver everything and pops of blush pinks and coppers, creating a holiday feel without being too traditional.
These two distinct themes were demonstrated in the lounge area where Rhys focused on layered textiles working on a similar palette, but with contrasts in textures and shapes, as well as the dining table, where guests would eat a Christmas meal together.
“A great way to wow your guests for Christmas is to set a dramatic Christmas dining table,” Rhys said.
He talked through working with your existing dinnerware, and the importance of setting the table before guests arrive. Rhys also suggested creating a cocktail moment in the kitchen for guests to gather around and share some nibbles as they arrive.
